Ideal Storage Conditions

Store your bat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations. The ideal storage temperature is between 60°F and 75°F with moderate humidity (40–50%). Avoid leaving your bat in a hot car, garage, or trunk — extreme heat dries out the wood and makes it brittle.

Humidity Matters

Wood is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs and releases moisture based on its environment. In very dry conditions (below 30% humidity), wood can lose moisture and become brittle. In very humid conditions (above 60%), it can absorb moisture and become heavier. A climate-controlled room is best.

Cleaning Your Bat

Wipe your bat with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dirt and pine tar buildup. For stubborn residue, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then dry immediately. Never submerge your bat in water or use harsh solvents — these can penetrate the finish and damage the wood.

Handling Pine Tar

Pine tar improves grip but can build up over time. Apply it in thin, even layers and replace it when it becomes hard or glossy. To remove old pine tar, use a pine tar remover product or rubbing alcohol on a cloth — work gently to avoid damaging the finish.
